Hi – my name is Catherine Homsey and I live in San Francisco, California, with my husband, two kids, and our cat. Thanks so much for visiting my site!
Like many of you, I was going through life consuming and acquiring stuff. Weekends almost always involved a window-shopping trip that led to new clothes or something for the apartment. Then we moved into a big house, and my husband and I got more things to fill it up. We had a couple of kids, and more stuff showed up.
Soon I noticed that while I had everything I wanted, I wasn’t feeling as good as I thought I should. Every time I bought something, I experienced a little high as I unpacked it and put it away, but as soon as it was in my closet or on a shelf, that brief mood lift was gone.
I began to feel stressed out every time I looked around the house. Things that used to bring me joy began bringing me down. I was always fighting clutter, so I knew I had to act. Just around that time I came across the Zero Waste movement and then the Tidying, or KonMari, movement. The more I read, the more I saw my path to happiness. This led me to discover the Joy of Zero Waste.
My goal is to help you clear your home and life of clutter and excess as well as to reduce your waste and consumption. The less time we spend acquiring and caring for stuff, the more time we have for family and friends. Everyone's path will be different, but by sharing what I have learned, I can help you make room for the things that really matter.
